Public Concerts Announced for Walled City Music International Academy 2026

Following the recent announcement of this year’s Walled City Music International Academy, Walled City Music is delighted to reveal the programme of public concerts taking place throughout the Academy, offering audiences the opportunity to experience world-class pianists alongside the next generation of international talent.

Running from 10–17 July, the Academy will welcome talented young pianists from across the globe to Derry for an intensive week of lessons, masterclasses, performances and artistic collaboration under the guidance of an internationally renowned faculty led by Academy Founder and Director Cathal Breslin.

This year’s distinguished faculty features Barry Douglas, Kathryn Stott, Thérèse Fahy, Svetozar Ivanov, Ksenia Nosikova and Chi Wu, who will not only mentor Academy participants but also perform in a series of public concerts in the Great Hall at Ulster University.

Three Concerts Not to Miss

Friday 10 July – The Piano Illuminated

The Academy opens with a captivating evening celebrating the piano’s extraordinary expressive range. From the elegance of Bach and Handel to the shimmering colours of Debussy, Scriabin and Ravel, audiences can enjoy performances by members of the Academy’s acclaimed international faculty.

Wednesday 15 July – The Piano Multiplied

This unique concert explores the excitement of piano ensemble performance, bringing together Academy faculty in imaginative repertoire for piano four hands and six hands. A celebration of collaboration, virtuosity and musical partnership, it promises to be one of the highlights of the week.

Friday 17 July – The Next Generation – International Competition Final

The Academy concludes with its prestigious International Piano Competition Final, where the Academy’s outstanding young pianists will perform before an international jury in a thrilling showcase of artistry, technical excellence and musical imagination.

Alongside these concerts, Academy participants will also bring music into the community through performances at venues across the city, reflecting Walled City Music’s commitment to making exceptional live music accessible to audiences throughout the North West.
